More information

Our Parish is a vibrant, thriving and friendly community located in south-east Derbyshire, around 8 miles north-east of  Derby.
The Parish is a comparatively safe place to live having a very low crime rate and little social disorder. It is covered by vigilant Neighbourhood Watch Wardens and Schemes.
We are extremely proud of what the Parish has to offer residents and visitors and of its social history and industrial heritage.
The welcoming village signposts and parish logo represent this heritage in the ‘Headstocks’ for mining, ‘Tractor’ for farming and the ‘Windmill’, that still exists today at Cat and Fiddle Lane in the neighbouring Parish of  Dale Abbey, for flour milling.
